The Forbidden City

Jingshan Park

798 Art Zone

798 Art Zone, also called Dashanzi Art District, is an important part of Beijing’s cultural scene. The district is home to numerous art galleries, cafes, and restaurants. It is also the location of the UCCA, an international contemporary arts institute.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, Beijing’s creative industries have grown in significance. Several areas have come into prominence, including the Creative Zone, which is now one of the most influential artistic quarters in the city. In 2008, there were more than 400 cultural institutions in the area, including several major art museums.

UCCA, the university of the arts, regularly hosts exhibitions and workshops. This includes the Left Hand – Right Hand, a display of Chinese and German sculptors.

Another reason that the 798 Art District is a major tourist attraction is the fact that the site is close to the subway system. However, it is still best to take a taxi to get there.
